ConVocation is a convention of the many mystical spiritual paths and faiths who desire to teach each other and promote fellowship among all esoteric traditions.
Since 1995, this 4-day event has brought together over 100 classes and rituals presented by local instructors, internationally renowned guest speakers and authors. Along with workshops, ConVocation offers over 40 tables of merchandise in our Merchant Room, an Art Show and the largest indoor Drum Circle in the Midwest.
In our 16th annual event, held February 18-21, 2010, our theme will focus on the Tower Tarot card. Our theme is Surviving the Storm. Join usas we discover what gifts will emerge during emergencies and strengthen both our practical and magickal survival skills.
Thank you to the 800 people
who made ConVocation 2010 a resounding success. We all deserve a round of
applause for Surviving the Storm and the destruction of the Tower
that had become our prison. As so many of you didn’t want to leave after
Closing Ceremonies, we are glad we were able to give you a few more classes to
make it last a little longer.
Rituals and classes offered
by our teachers were once again so popular that we had some struggles to manage
everyone into the room or time allowed. Thank you for your patience if you were
one of the people waiting or squeezed into a room. Thank you to Jackie Smith,
Kenn Day, and Jo-Ann/GreenWoman, among others, for working with crowded
conditions and gracefully paying the price of your popularity. Other teachers, especially
Selena Fox, Michelle Bellanger, and Raven Kaldera managed a large number of
people in a room that was twice the necessary size and did a great job of being
heard by all. All of our teachers were professional as well as joyful. We are
lucky to have all of you.
ConVocation Staff puts
hundreds of volunteer hours into preparing as well as putting on ConVocation.
For many of us the theme of the Con echoes through our lives all year long. The
Tower has been a particularly challenging year with more changes and surprises
than anyone could have predicted. All three dozen staff members were giving
freely from resources that had been depleted by the storms of the last year.
Still they found time to lend an ear, build a tower and step-up to fill the
holes left by the storm. Six of the Staff are also MEC Board Members who have
been doing this for more years than they can remember. To those who paid in
blood, sweat and tears to make ConVocation happen; your dedication and
perseverance speak for themselves. There is a Blessing on All Who Serve.
